Last time, Sen. Joe Manchin agreed to support the dems’ Inflation Reduction Act. Many of our patriots are disappointed with Joe Manchin. They felt betrayed when he sided with the dems.
Some believe he is no longer representing the best interests of West Virginia. Others think he has become part of the problem in Washington.
Right now, it’s still not clear where Joe Manchin is siding. The best thing to do for our patriots is to observe from afar and see what Manchin will do next.
Manchin Calls for Bipartisan Deal on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid
The dems have accused Republicans of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. Meanwhile, Republicans insist that these attacks are not true.
Sen. Joe Manchin assessed what Congress needs to do with entitlement spending. He is calling for a broad, bipartisan deal to protect the solvency of:
- Social Security
- Medicare
- Medicaid
Manchin, whose pivotal vote both delayed and helped pass big pieces of Biden’s plan… shared his thoughts on Fortune. He said, “You’ll get your financial house in order. We cannot live with this crippling debt.”
He added, “If we don’t look at the trust funds going bankrupt, whether they be Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, highway, all the ones… there are tremendous problems right now. If we can’t come to grips with how we face this country’s financial challenge… then we’re all going to be paying a price that we can’t afford.”
Moreover, Manchin believes that Congress needs to work on:
- Passing bipartisan reforms to entitlement programs
- Cutting federal spending
He told Bloomberg, “It’s a bipartisan problem. [We should] address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs.”
Both parties want to reduce non-discretionary spending. Dems had the opportunity to fund Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare… but chose to fund others. They neglected to fix the issue for the past two years.
After Manchin voted for the Inflation Reduction Act that has nothing to do with reducing inflation… it’s hard to believe everything he says now. There’s a chance he’s trying to win the support of Republicans in Congress so that the dems can still gain control.
Manchin Slams Biden for Comments About Shutting Down Coal Plants
Sen. Joe Manchin demands Biden apologize for saying coal plants “all across America” will be shut down. Manchin said, “President Biden’s comments are outrageous and divorced from reality. They ignore the American people’s severe economic pain because of rising energy costs.”
He added, “Comments like these are why American people are losing trust in President Biden. He does not understand the need for an all-in energy policy to keep our nation energy independent and secure.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre responded to Manchin. She said, “President Biden knows that the men and women of coal country built this nation. He came to the White House to end years of big words but little action to help…”
Again, we may not be sure if Manchin sincerely rebukes Biden for his comments. This may be just a publicity stunt so that Republicans will like him again…
